The Prayer Room is a space set apart for retreat from the noisy and distracting environments of our world. It is a place to be with God, contemplating his love and contending for our city. The purpose of the prayer room is to support the church in the pursuit of both soul and city transformation.

Why use a prayer room?
Of course we can pray to God in any place. But the place we pray can be more or less helpful. Our homes can be full of distractions (sometimes cute little ones), and we can struggle to focus. A place set apart to meet with God, set up for specifically that purpose can greatly aid us in our prayer practice. Often people say that 1 hour in a prayer room feels like 10 minutes.
Who can use the prayer room?
The prayer room is for anyone who wants to draw near to God. Protestant or Catholic, young or old, Baptist or Presbyterian, Charismatic or Contemplative. You can use it for silence and solitude or bring some friends and pray together.
How do I access the prayer room?
The prayer room is in the Karl Road Baptist Church building at 5750 Karl Road, Columbus, OH 43229. When you book some time in the prayer room you will get an email with a code for the keypad on the prayer room door. There is a reserved parking spot on the North East corner of the property.
Are there prayer gatherings in the prayer room?
On the 3rd Monday of each month, you are invited to join in three different gatherings: 7am, noon, and 7pm. These are simple times to gather with brothers and sisters for some scripture, prayer, and maybe some music. Outside of those times, you are welcome to book the room and host your own prayer gathering by inviting some friends!
How long can I use the prayer room?
As long as you want! An hour of prayer, a morning, a full day, go crazy! There is a bathroom in the prayer room for your comfort and convenience.
Is the prayer room safe?
Kinda. We’ve taken as many safety precautions as we can. The walkway and entry is well-lit. There is a security camera. The door remains locked from the outside at all times - meaning once you’re in there no one else can come in unless they have the code. The code changes regularly.
We recommend sticking to hours between 6am-10pm, or coming in pairs outside of that time. There are often houseless people on Karl Road and the Doll House strip club is next door.
Beyond that, we leave it to you to discern what level of risk you feel comfortable with and how you want to engage in the prayer space.
